Get vaccinated at least 4 weeks before travel. The chickenpox vaccine is given as two doses, four to eight weeks apart, for full protection. If needed, your pharmacist can advise on an accelerated schedule to ensure you are protected before departure.

Children: This vaccination is suitable for children over 12 months of age.

Side Effects: Common side effects include soreness or redness at the injection site, mild fever, and a rash that may resemble chickenpox.

Additional Precautions: To prevent the spread of chickenpox, maintain good hand hygiene and avoid close contact with individuals who have the infection. Those with weakened immune systems should take extra care to avoid exposure.

Risks Caused by Chickenpox: Chickenpox can lead to complications such as skin infections, pneumonia, and, in rare cases, inflammation of the brain (encephalitis).
